"I have only the highest praise for Stelo. We can't operate without the Stelo Data Replicator, and our organization has standardized on it as the Data Replication tool of choice."
Kris Roux

Data Warehouse Developer

Need

MMH created a Data Warehouse with a nightly Database pull of JD Edwards financial packages from iSeries source to SQL Server targets. The company had an ad hoc solution in place that was not providing the financial information in a timely fashion to the business stakeholders. The previous solution was cumbersome to operate and consumed a significant amount of production resources. The company initially had more than 7500 tables incrementally in sync + snapshot and billions of data transfers. MMH needed a data replication tool with the capability of replicating only changed data versus reloading the entire datasets.

Solution

Initially, the company worked with Stelo to deploy Stelo Data Replicator for real time data replication from iSeries to SQL Server. After the initial success of the primary deployment, the engagement branched out significantly in three additional phases. MMW added replication to include Db2 for UDB to connect more than 10 different silos for different operational business units and added numerous SQL Server destinations that support call center activities, and other business functions including actuary and forensics.
Next, Stelo deployed a separate Stelo installation for the company’s Oracle data sources. Finally, the customer needed to push data into the Cloud and now use Stelo Data Replicator to replicate from on premise sources into Amazon Web Services and PostgreSQL.

Now when a connection is broken, no data is lost. Stelo automatically resumes replication without needing to re-baseline in the event of a connectivity failure.

Savings

Streamlined Process

By standardizing company-wide data replication with Stelo, IT  team spend less rather that constantly maintaining a patchwork of replication tools.

Benefits

Near-Zero Footprint Icon_Noun 1465960_White No Impact on Source Systems

By decreasing the data load on the local system, the engineers can perform performance stress testing on the local network without contending for CPU resources. Stelo utilizes a mere 0.2-1% of the source system CPU, and therefore it is extremely efficient and fast.

By employing Stelo, the most significant benefit has been a 70% reduction in DBAs administrative time to verify data and maintain an underperforming ad hoc solution.

Resilient Data Connectivity Icon_Noun 4636104_WhiteConstant Data Ecosystem Evolution

Today, two Stelo servers play a crucial role in the company’s data ecosystem, connecting over 50 sources and 20 destinations and performing over 100mil transactions per day in real time. As MMH's requirements grow, Stelo won't go out of date. New source and target types are continuously added through active updates.

Before Stelo, MMH struggled with an expensive, inefficient data transfer tool. The Stelo license model, which is licensed by the number of virtual hardware cores to scale data demands grow is the most economical solution available, especially when compared to other replication tools on the market.
