Stelo + Snowflake

Technology Pages Logo-Title Nodes_Snowflake

Customers looking to simplify their data ecosystems are moving data into SaaS platforms such as Snowflake to take advantage of their cloud-first approach to data storage and analytics. Stelo easily connects and distributes data into Snowflake so users can engage Snowflake’s data warehousing, data processing, and analytics services. Stelo seamlessly connects all source database types so end users can quickly and affordably stream structured and unstructured data in the cloud as needed. Stelo’s functionality means change data is delivered using micro-batches which reduces latency and avoids costly row-by-row searched DML operations.

Unlike other replication tools, Stelo can be deployed in 15 minutes and includes all source and destination data connectors needed to power today’s enterprise data ecosystems. Stelo brings the robustness and power our customers have come to expect from on premise data warehousing to today’s Cloud solutions. Advancing data management strategy is not about displacing current software and hardware investments; it’s about making it easier to leverage new technologies that can unlock your data’s embedded potential.

Flexible Deployment Icon_Noun 4351350_Green Customizable

Anywhere-to-Anywhere

Avoid vendor lock-in. Stelo uses heterogeneous replication for bi-directional support across all source and destination types. Our open-standards approach allows us to remain vendor-agnostic while providing highly flexible deployment models.

Data Scalability Icon_Noun 1304652_Green Cost-Efficient

Unlimited Connections

A single instance can support multiple sources and destinations without additional licensing. The Stelo license model is independent of the number of cores to either the source or destination, so you only pay for the capacity required to support the transaction volume. Your data ecosystem can change over time without additional costs.

Rapid Deployment Icon_Noun 3967969_Green Quick Setup

Rapid Deployment

Streamline your deployment plan without costly delays. Stelo typically deploys in less than a day and cuts production time down from months to only weeks.

Automatic Restoration Icon_Noun 4647448_Green Reliable

Automatic Recovery

If a connection is broken, no data is lost. Stelo will automatically resume replication without needing to re-baseline in the event of a connectivity failure.

 Time and Labor Icon_Noun 4636078_Green Easy-to-Use

Set It and Forget It

Simple installation with GUI interface, configuration wizard, and advanced tools makes product setup and operation straightforward, with no programming needed. Once running, Stelo reliably operates in the background without requiring dedicated engineering support to maintain and manage. Alter, add, and drop schema changes are replicated automatically.

Multi-Threaded Loading Icon_Noun 3263022_Green Low Latency

Multi-Threaded Processing

Stelo leverages native data loading functions, and exploits multithreaded processing to provide fast, reliable performance for replicating multiple tables concurrently.

How to Futureproof Data Management Strategy to Prioritize Change Data

With outdated systems, companies risk reaching the limits of their data analysis capabilities, and struggle responding to market conditions, delivering products and services, and maintaining customer satisfaction. In data management, futureproofing means establishing a system with agile architecture and loosely coupled software components. In short, futureproofing means anticipating change.

Learn about strategies to help you anticipate change through reliability and versatility, including avoiding vendor lock-in, embracing open standards technology, adopting elastic storage repositories like delta lakes, and more.

FAQ

Do I need programming experience to use Stelo? What is the user interface like?

No. Stelo offers simple installation and GUI-based replication. Our user-friendly, browser-based GUI does not require a programming background to set up or operate. The easy-to-use interface comes standard across all Stelo solutions for snapshot, incremental, and bi-directional replication. Once running, Stelo reliably operates in the background without needing dedicated engineering support to maintain and manage.

What is your latency rate? What does "real-time" data look like?

Stelo’s typical, near real-time latency rate is under 1 second. Once replication source and destination databases have been defined, Stelo uses change data capture techniques to capture and apply only change data. Our multithreaded processing is far more efficient than other replication tools on the market, not only to provide near real-time data availability, but also best in terms of reliability and robustness. Stelo’s custom technology blurs the overhead of the WAN connection and effectively delivers near real-time (under 1 second) replication, regardless of whether it's going into cloud or on-premise locations. If your use-case requires sub-second latency at all times, we will size the replication instance according to your high-water mark of DML activity to ensure near real-time data availability.

Can Stelo handle high-volume requirements without breaking my bank?

Yes. Stelo can handle large-scale data transfers replication with sub-second latency. A single instance can support multiple sources and destinations without additional licensing. The Stelo model is independent of the number of cores of either the source or destination—so you only pay for the capacity required to support the transaction connections. This cost-efficient method merges source data flows into one stream, and then is applied to any number of subscribing destinations. Stelo delivers enterprise-level performance without enterprise-level cost.

Why is real-time change data capture important?

Analyzing a company’s ongoing transactional or operational data can provide key insights that drive business decisions and processes. Many companies offload these operations to other databases, data warehouses, or data lakehouses to reduce source system load and save costs. However, replicating dynamic data from multiple source databases to one or more destination application requires real-time change data capture (CDC) to ensure all updates are automatically and reliably reflected. In other words, business insights are only effective if data changes are accurately captured and delivered across the connected databases over time.

CDC is typically the first stage in the data ingestion process and represents the “extraction phase” in the ETL and ELT approaches. CDC strategies often demand a tradeoff between latency tolerance and change volume requirements, but Stelo’s approach provides the ideal balance between fast, high-volume performance and lossless data capture. Our process can simultaneously propagate a source system’s information changes and structure updates to destination platforms so that the data appears in the correct sequence at the same time. In addition, the cost-efficient method merges incoming data flows into one stream, as opposed to using many streams, which becomes expensive.
