Stelo + Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Use Stelo to move operational data from your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) repository to data warehouse, dashboard or delta lake applications that allow you to run and monitor your business. Moving data across a wide area network (WAN) is inherently associated with a high level of information delay due to limitations on how fast data can transit across a network. Stelo compensates for the inherent high latency of WANs, providing a seamless experience.
Enterprise-level vendors lock customers into their contained solutions. However, Stelo can connect all source and destination target types for every user, so you can easily move data from anywhere to anywhere. With Stelo, get enterprise-level end-to-end system quality without enterprise-level pricing. Compared to Oracle’s in-house GoldenGate replication software, Stelo’s solution is an affordable, highly customizable alternative that deploys rapidly with ultra-low CPU loads. Stelo customers have saved 10–20% versus using Oracle’s GoldenGate tool.
Oracle Replication Experts
The Stelo Strategy for Oracle Source Data Replication/CDC: Oracle versions up to 19c are supportable via LogMiner technology, for Oracle version 21c onwards, the XStream technology is recommended for CDC. We are authorized to bundle XStream’s high-performance capabilities with Stelo. Other replication solutions have tried to copy or reverse engineer the Oracle log file formats, introducing more problems than it solves.
Avoid vendor lock-in. Stelo uses heterogeneous replication for bi-directional support across all source and destination types. Our open-standards approach allows us to remain vendor-agnostic while providing highly flexible deployment models.
A single instance can support multiple sources and destinations without additional licensing. The Stelo license model is independent of the number of cores to either the source or destination, so you only pay for the capacity required to support the transaction volume. Your data ecosystem can change over time without additional costs.
Streamline your deployment plan without costly delays. Stelo typically deploys in less than a day and cuts production time down from months to only weeks.
If a connection is broken, no data is lost. Stelo will automatically resume replication without needing to re-baseline in the event of a connectivity failure.
Our process provides ultra-low CPU load (less than 1% typical) to minimize production impact and avoid operational disruption. No source or destination software installation required. Only transfer data you need thanks to Dataset Partitioning.
Large Healthcare Service Provider Unifies Its Data Management for Real-Time Monitoring and Reporting
A customer managing three hospital campuses, a large community program, and 16 statewide services needed to integrate eight data sources containing a sensitive mix of clinical, financial, and administrative data into a Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL) dashboard application.
A customized Stelo deployment model seamlessly integrated all required data stores, including on-premise sources, cloud sources, such as a hospital platform, and additional data sources on Oracle, MySQL, and MS SQL.
Stelo is now a mission-critical deployment for the client, providing the following results:
- Real-time replication of 20 TBs of data with a transaction rate ranging from 1 to 10 million transactions per hour
- The ability to satisfy numerous stakeholders who rely on accurate data for vital patient care and business administration
- A unified replication strategy, a feat that no other solution could deliver before
Stelo offers simple installation and GUI-based replication. Our user-friendly, browser-based GUI does not require a programming background to set up or operate. The easy-to-use interface comes standard across all Stelo solutions for snapshot, incremental, and bi-directional replication. Once running, Stelo reliably operates in the background without needing dedicated engineering support to maintain and manage.
Yes. Whether you want to deploy either entirely in the cloud or used between on-prem and cloud databases, Stelo’s deployment models are designed to maximize performance without sacrificing flexibility.
Cloud technologies enable choice. Some companies prefer to stream data into cloud-based delta lakes while maintaining their existing data warehouse; that way, they can take advantage of new technologies from companies like Synapse while maintaining their existing applications. Others would prefer to get rid of their in-house data center all together.
Stelo encourages customers to make improvements by integrating technologies that allow them to use their data better. Advancing data management strategy is not about displacing current software and hardware investments; it’s about making it easier to leverage new technologies that can unlock your data’s embedded potential.
Once replication source and destination databases have been defined, Stelo uses change data capture techniques to capture and apply only change data. Our multithreaded processing is far more efficient than other replication tools on the market, not only to provide near real-time data availability, but also best in terms of reliability and robustness. Stelo’s custom technology blurs the overhead of the WAN connection and effectively delivers near real-time (under 1 second) replication, regardless of whether it's going into cloud or on-premise locations. If your use case requires sub-second latency at all times, we will size the replication instance according to your high-water mark of DML activity to ensure near real-time data availability.
Stelo’s longtime expertise with Oracle CDC continues to evolve. Our strategic use of the LogMiner API to achieve Oracle DB CDC for more than 20 years cut costs for Oracle/Stelo customers while delivering the best-in-class Data Replication solution, but when continuous mining was dropped from the LogMiner API in Oracle Version 19c, we needed to adapt.
Oracle versions up to 19c are supportable via LogMiner technology, for Oracle version 21c onwards, the XStream technology is recommended for CDC.
We are delighted to partner with Oracle as an independent software vendor (ISV) and to distribute licenses for XStream use with Stelo. Three key benefits include upwards of 50% increased performance throughput, improved data security, and potential cost savings, especially for deployments with multiple destinations. Other replication solutions have tried to copy or reverse engineer the Oracle log file formats, introducing more problems than it solves.
Quick support is available for training, troubleshooting, version updates, and data replication architecture. 24/7 Urgent Incident Support is included in annual subscriptions.
